A few months ago I let you in on my workday lunch salad routine. While a “Man Salad” might make you stick out like a sore thumb, their virtues have me hooked.
Since I started prepping a week’s worth of salads on the weekends, I’ve freed up valuable time during the workweek and I save a hefty chunk of change by avoiding a lunch break restaurant run. One thing I didn’t see coming? Inspired by my routine, a coworker started roasting her own veggies and bringing salads for lunch. Her face lit up every Monday when she showed me what she had prepped for the week.
If you aren’t ready to brave the office break room with a Man Salad, you can reap the same virtues from a Man Sandwich.
Every man loves a fat sandwich and they are endlessly flexible – you won’t miss the deli meat (especially after you read this). Plus, there’s something truly manly about trying to take a bite of your sandwich only to realize that you stuffed it with so many fillings that you might need a fork to eat it. That’s the goal here.
The main categories from the Man Salad blueprint apply to the Man Sandwich blueprint. I prep each ingredient over the weekend and store them in separate containers – then throw my sandwich together before work.
Get creative! We used tomatoes and sauteed portobella mushroom caps here.
We stick to 100% whole wheat or sourdough!
Romaine, sprouts, mixed greens, arugula, kale, chard, collard greens, spinach, cabbage, etc
Dressing & Sauces
Creamy Maple Mustard, Simple Vinegarette, avocado, cheese, pesto, etc
Now go make a fat sandwich!
