Why do you want to shift to a more plant-based diet?
Your answer to this question is your touchstone, your motivator, the thing you return to when the going gets tough. Maybe you already know the answer. If so, great! But if you aren’t quite sure what motivated you to start changing what you eat, no worries. Follow these steps to dig deep and find your why.
3 Steps To Find Your “WHY”
Write 1-3 personal goals related to changing the way you eat.
(Example: Eat a plant-based diet for 7 days)
For each goal, write the result you are hoping for if you achieve it.
(Examples: lose weight, lower blood pressure, prevent cancer)
Now ask yourself “but why do I want this result?”. Keep asking “but why?” over and over until it really resonates with you. Here’s an example: “but why do I want to prevent cancer?”- to stay healthy -“but why?” – to live longer – “but why?” – to be healthy and alive to watch my children grow because my parent died from cancer and wasn’t able to see many of the milestones in my life.
So what’s your “why”? Go through this exercise and tell someone who can help hold you accountable.
